My local hill is Winter Hill, and it is a key feature in my moorland playground. I've been walking, cycling, and running on here since late 1996.

I love being here in all weathers and today is a warm Saturday, so there are many other folk out enjoying Winter Hill.

I've seen people sit with their backs against Trig Points, and I've been with people who climbed on top of a Trig Point to get higher than everyone else. Until today, I've never seen anyone use a Trig Point as their Standing Desk. Chapeau!

Winter Hill is the great outdoor playground, just north of Bolton. All too often it lives up to its name, but today it was all warm sunshine.

A Category B Short Fell Race, 5.2km with 800ft ascent, starting near the Crown Hotel on Lever Park Avenue in Horwich. This iconic race takes a route up to Rivington Pike and back, this is a short but hard fell race suitable for everyone. The race is kindly sponsored by Walsh sports. The race traditionally takes place on Easter Saturday.
