Summer in Wigan seems to be able to take people by surprise, and even after a few days, many dress as though it is just an illusion and not anything like as warm as it really is. I don't suppose Wigan is unique in this respect, but it is slightly unnerving to see some people dressed for temperatures about 10ºC cooler than it really is.
